About

The mission of Bossier Parish Libraries is to enrich, educate, and inspire our community by providing unique and welcoming physical and virtual environments in which open thought, innovation, and the sharing of ideas are encouraged.  Our vision is to support the changing needs of Bossier Parish by being a safe and inviting haven for all, fostering education and literacy, encouraging personal growth, inspiring curiosity, and building connections that strengthen our community.

Access to Online Databases (free with your library card):

  • Libby/OverDrive – With Libby for OverDrive you can borrow and enjoy free eBooks, audiobooks, and more from your library’s digital collection directly to your mobile device or tablet.  All you need to get started is an internet connection and a library card.  You get to keep items you’ve borrowed for two weeks and the items simply expire from your device at the end of your borrowing period.  Not finished with it yet?  No problem!  You can immediately borrow it again as long as there is no waiting list.
  • Hoopla & Kanopy – Instantly borrow free digital movies, television shows, audiobooks, graphic novels, and music 24/7.  From Hollywood blockbusters & insightful documentaries to best-selling artists you’ll soon discover that Hoopla & Kanopy provide you the freedom to explore and enjoy what you want, when you want it.  While downloading is possible, it is not required.  Simple to access and easy to use, without the hassle of having to return the items you’ve borrowed, all you need to get started is your library card, Internet access, and a smart phone, tablet, or compatible streaming device such as Apple TV, Amazon Firestick, Chromecast, Roku, and more.
  • Flipster – Love magazines but hate them cluttering your recycling bin when you’re done?  Go digital!  Flipster is a digital magazine newsstand that provides free access to popular magazines on your computer, mobile device, or tablet.  New issues are available to access the same day they hit newsstands.  All you need is Internet access and a library card.
  • Pronunciator – Habla español?  Parlez-vous français?  Deutsch sprechen?  The world’s largest language learning service, Pronunciator, is a fun and free way to learn any of over 150 languages with self-directed lessons, live teachers, movies, music, and more.  Learn online with your library card and get the mobile app for your mobile device!
  • Gale Courses – Learn something new with 375+ instructor-led online classes. Available 24/7, Gale Courses provides six-week long, online programs taught by college instructors in a variety of subjects from digital photography to grant writing to graphic design to accounting and more! New courses begin each month, and lessons are assigned twice a week, and are enhanced with images, videos, and games to support varied learning styles. Most courses come with a certificate of completion!
  • Creativebug – Enjoy unlimited access to over 1000 online art and craft classes. Watch our classes anytime, anywhere. Since our classes never expire, you can start and stop projects at your own pace. No pressure, just possibilities! All you need is a library card and Internet access!
  • Research Databases – Find databases for in-depth research in subjects such as:  Business & Personal Finance; Health & Medicine; History & Genealogy; and Literature.  That’s to be expected, but did you know that we also offer databases of personal interest as well?  A to Z World Food brings international cuisine to you with thousands of recipes and articles.  Chilton Library provides the detailed information you need to tackle vehicle maintenance and repairs.  Cypress Résumé offers highly effective résumé writing tools for your job search. Gale Legal Forms has thousands of legal forms covering hundreds of legal subjects. KnowledgeCity offers state-of-the art professional development in critical business skills such as leadership management.  And many more!
