Union Parish Chamber of Commerce
About
In the world of technology, cell phones and laptops, we have discovered that we can live anywhere and still conduct business locally, nationally and even around the world.
More and more, young couples and business people are looking forward to early retirement and even golden parachutes. Why not take advantage of your opportunities and come home to Union Parish and its nationally known Lake D’Arbonne located in Union Parish in northern Louisiana.
Union Parish is known for its natural resources including five scenic rivers and waterways; including its crown jewel, Lake D’Arbonne, which covers 15,000 acres and 150 miles of shoreline.
Lake D’Arbonne has gained national recognition as evidenced by two major crappie fishing tournaments (American Crappie Trail National Tournament and Crappie Masters) were held this year on our lake, with teams participating from 15 states. National champion Jeff Riddle even stated on national TV, “Lake D’Arbonne is the best crappie fishing lake I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
This year, Louisiana Delta Community College opened a new campus located in the parish seat of Farmerville. Delta is an open-admissions college offering multiple paths to higher education, career, and personal fulfillment. Delta prides itself on offering a friendly, student-centered learning environment where their students can flourish.
Delta invites you to explore their academic offerings and admissions options on your way towards professional and personal growth. We hope that you will find Louisiana Delta Community College to be the ideal place to start and go anywhere!
We also have excellent primary & secondary educational facilities, including two new state-of-the-art schools, Union High School and D’Arbonne Woods Charter School. Plus newly remodeled Downsville Charter School and Union Christian Academy.
Our parish seat Farmerville has three major downtown revitalization projects scheduled to start this fall, including new sidewalks, lighting and safety features.
The local economy is experiencing growth, with expansion of existing business and with new businesses moving into the parish. Major commercial construction projects are underway with scheduled completion this fall.
We have a beautiful Lake D’Arbonne State Park (655 acres) which lies in timbered, hilly terrain adjacent to Lake D’Arbonne, where you can enjoy its wonderful natural resources, including fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking and canoeing.
Union Parish is the 7th largest parish in Louisiana and hosts many festivals scattered across the parish, including D’Arbonne Festival & Fireworks, Watermelon Festival, Mayhaw Festival, Corney Creek Festival, Christmas on the Square and many more than we can list. Each event has many vendors targeting young & old alike.
Antique shops, general stores, clothing and specialty boutiques surround court- house square and scattered throughout town. Did I mention food? Great Cajun seafood, real Italian, BBQ, lots of plate lunches and downhome cooking. (A complete listing of Chamber member businesses can be found in the back of this visitor’s guide.)
We invite you to come visit our little “piece of Heaven”, experience the simpler times of our childhood and stay for a weekend or lifetime. And always remember, “You can always come back home to Union Parish!!!”
